2024 Spring & Summer Youth Rugby – COACH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

***JULY 2024 UPDATE***

Unfortunately, Ocean State Rugby is unable to get off the ground this year. I was able to get a field, insurance, and the like, but we have had to defer all inquiries to other clubs as we do not have enough coaches/volunteers to put together an solid experience.

Personally, I am spread too thin in the spring with my kid’s other sports and youth rugby really needs a good ramp up in the spring and early summer that I cannot do by myself.

If you are in the North Kingstown/Southern RI-area and have a child interested in rugby, please look to a youth program available in Exeter-West Greenwich area, Providence, and Newport/Middletown.

I will keep trying to pull in volunteers for next year and help Rugby RI organize for any future experience, until then – please consider volunteering and getting certified to coach!

Cheers,
Keith – Ocean State Rugby

***MARCH 2024 UPDATE***

No cool action photos….

No awesome rugby game updates….

Just more waiting. Ugh!!!!

Remember, youth rugby is still a “young” sport in this area. Grassroots. However, momentum has been building.

Right now, Ocean State Rugby is a one-man show and I need volunteers to help coach.

Also, my kids play other sports and require a lot of attention to have that happen – so getting everything up and running for the Spring/Summer will be behind schedule compared to our friends at Providence Youth Rugby (Providence Pirates) and Island Rugby on the East Bay.

If you have the desire to travel Rhode Island-far, please reach out to Daniel Mejia-Onat at Providence Rugby (danielrugbyprov@gmail.com) or Chris Gray at Island Rugby (d-a-d1@cox.net) to get your kids at it earlier. We all end up working together and playing together anyhow while we all help to get youth rugby more popular!

If you are interested in coaching, please reach out.

If you are interested in volunteering/coaching – please submit this form: OSR – GOOGLE FORM

If your child is interested in playing, there are great, fun opportunities to do so.

However, more information will be coming soon about tournament schedules, practice schedules and other events.

Cheers,
Keith
